We are starting our second season of Volleyball….

We have scheduled a meeting for parents and athletes that are interested in playing volleyball.

The meeting is scheduled for March 13, 2012 at theCrossChurchinSpringdaleat 6:30pm. Our new Director of Volleyball, Dawn Capito is looking to expand the program.  Come ready to listen to and discuss the plans for the upcoming season that will be starting soon….

If you have experience either playing or coaching football, we need you!  Director of Football Operations, Jimmy Hall is looking for capable and willing assistant coaches (we already have a capable and willing head coach) for a varsity football program (players age 14 – 18).  The Hornet football program will strive for excellence in every phase of the game, emphasizing a disciplined style of play with much aggression.

We will have our first planning meetings next week.

Interested coaches will meet at Fayetteville Nazarene Church on Tuesday, February 7 at 6 pm.   E-mail Jimmy at jbhall16@pgtc.com if you have any questions.

Interested parents and players will meet at the same location on Monday, February 13 at 6 pm.

Our Varsity Boys and Girls teams play a four team home tournament this Friday (2/24) and Saturday (2/25). The visiting teams are Oklahoma Storm, Pulaski Flames and Southwest Misouri. This line-up of teams should produce some great games. Fridays games will be played at the AAO facility in Fayetteville starting at 5 pm. Saturdays contests will be played at the Fayetteville Christian Gym on Mission Blvd in Fayetteville starting at 10 am. See tournament schedule below…….

Our future stars, the 10u boys, will be playing in a tournament in Joplin, Mo.  This is a one day tourney.  We play at noon, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.  The gym location in Joplin is:

The other teams in the tournament are: Grove Ridgerunners, Benton Co. Bears Blue, North Arkansas Elite and the Benton County Bears Orange.

Let’s Go Hornets!

We are putting together a “quick” t-shirt order to have some spirit shirts ready for Tip-Off tourney next weekend.  We will be printing a run of “Hornets Basketball” t-shirts for those wanting to show their team spirit by sporting a Hornets tee!  The t-shirts will be Hanes 50/50 shirts in either yellow gold or white with the black and gold Hornets logo.  They can be ordered in the following sizes:

Youth:    small, medium, large, x-large
Adult:     small, medium, large, x-large, 2x and 3x

We have gotten a great deal on these, so at only $8 each you can order one for every member of the family.  We’ll look bold in our black and gold!!!  Below is what the t-shirt will look like.

T-shirts must be ordered by Wednesday, October 26 to have our shirts by tournament time.  (We will place a follow-up order at a later date if we have several who aren’t ready to purchase now.)  To order, please list how many shirts you want to order, with the size and color (white or gold) of each.  E-mail this information to Tracy Burnett at jatburnett@att.net by noon Wednesday.  Shirts should be paid for by giving coaches a sealed envelope with the list of shirts ordered along with cash or check this Friday or Saturday.

Secondly, all players have the option to purchase a long sleeve, lightweight, poly blend black shirt.  The same logo that is on the uniform shorts will be on the chest of this shirt.   Players can wear these shirts during warm-ups over their uniforms prior to the games.  This shirt is not a tight-fitting shirt, but a nice, loose-fitting, lightweight, athletic round neck shirt.  These shirts will cost $13 each — another great deal.  Presently we are seeking sponsorship for these shirts so each player can have one;  therefore, it is possible those who purchase them now may be reimbursed for this shirt expense (which, of course, means it is possible you will not be reimbursed).  We will not have an answer on this sponsorship in time to order for Tip-Off tourney, so we are giving you the option to purchase these shirts now before our opening tournament.  These shirts may also be ordered by e-mailing jatburnett@att.net by noon Wednesday.  Payment for these shirts should be included in the same envelope as the spirit t-shirts.  Same sizes are available.  Below is the logo that will be on the warm-up shirts.
